I’ve done this whole thing backwards.

Things I have learned after this attempt to create and release a single professionally:

1.) Announce there is a new single with a release date only after the project has already been completed. Not before it has even begun.

2.) If you create a song using the guitar, you must record that, rather than try to force the song into some other dimension.

3.) Learn how to use a professional DAW

4.) (and this is a big one) Shazam your song Before sending it to be pressed.

I was planning on selling my single for $3 but due to learning lesson #4—of which, yes, after using Shazam to check my songs for likeness out there in the world, about 10 different songs came back with the same exact loop sounds. It doesn’t feel right at all to try and sell that. If anyone would like a copy, I would be happy to mail you one for free.
